Mykonos

When you say Greece, the world replies “Myconos”. One of the most celebrated islands of the globe. There is nothing too “extravagant” when it comes to Myconos. Every story about the island, the white harmony of its architecture, its breathtaking, almost barren, rocky terrain, its sunsets, its legendary non-stop nightlife, the warmth and hospitality of its people, the great food, all have contributed to its mythos.

What to see

Feeling spiritual? More than 1,200 churches are scattered all around the island; the Paraportiani is of significant importance, as well as the Monastery of Panayia Tourliani, at Ano Mera settlement.

Visit the Three Wells (Tria Pigadia) at the very centre of the mainland, and the 1780’s building that hosts the Town Hall, for their magnificent architectural structure.

The Windmills up on the Castle, the perfect spot to relish the gorgeous sunsets.

The infamous Little Venice with its beautiful multicoloured balconies, standing literally on the edge of the deep blue sea.

Visit the Municipal Library with more than 10,000 volumes and a vast collection of pictures and engravings.

Also, make some time to visit the islands museums, the Archaeological Museum, Folklore Museum, Aegean Maritime, and the Museum of Agriculture.

Where to swim

Agios Sostis, a perfect choice for keeping it low and quiet and Agrari, for its beautiful boat tour from Platis Yialos. This beach is not very busy. Lia also, if you prefer the quiet. On the other hand, the traditionally gay friendly Elia beach, offers a variety of water sports. The more crowded Kalafatis beach, also offers unlimited racket playing hours and jet-ski rides. Kalo Livadi beach, about 9km from the mainland, also for lover of water sports. Ornos, perfect if you have family and kids. Panormos, the bohemian choice. Paragka beach, loud and youthful. Ftelia, for aspiring wind surfers. Psarrou, the VIP “section”, with beautiful turquoise waters, deck chairs and sunbeds, and of course the Paradise beach, where its unique 42 years camping sight “history” of Super Paradise is established, the place that actually made the island famous around the planet.
