Folklore and Ethnological Museum Of Macedonia And Thrace

Remnants of Macedonian and Thracian culture through a collection of 15000 objects, such as woven textiles, embroidery, local costumes, tools, weapons, domestic articles, musical instruments, and woodcarving, woodworking, and metalworking equipment. It also has a specialized library, a photographic archive, a record library, a sound library, and a cafe. Most of all, the folklore museum is architecturally magnificent, located in a building known as “Old Government House”, which was built in 1906 by the architect Eli Modiano. A four-level museum with a semi basement, two floors and an attic, it is strongly influenced by the art nouveau movement and points directly to the seafront.
